Moche, ancient Peru, c. 400 – 700 AD. Excellent Moche ceramic figure of a lord. This choice example is 4.5” high and depicts a standing lord with hands held to the chest, adorned with a wide headdress, broad collar with matching bracelets, and large ear ornaments. Intact, with strong mineral deposits. The hole under his buttocks was intentionally made to release heat pressure during baking.
