Cretan Pythos
Product Description
Hellenic Art's pottery items are handcrafted in Greece in a small family workshop using natural, high-quality materials, superb craftsmanship, and extreme attention to detail. They are licensed and modeled after museum pieces from all over the world, and bear the lead seal of authenticity.
This Cretan Pythos features bull heads and double axes; sacred symbols to the Minoans, skillfully adapted to the shape by a filling of spirals. It's an exact reproduction of a real ancient Greek pythos that was found on the island of Psira, close to Crete. It was dated to about 1580-1450 BCE, and is currently on display at the Archaeological Museum Of Heraklion.
