Product Description

From the Musha Raiden series comes this intricately hand forged "Kawataro" (River Imp) Katana. The full tang 1045 high carbon steel makes this a resilient katana that is sharp right out of the box.

In Japanese folklore, the Kawataro or Kappa is known to be a river imp that lures humans into the water and pulling them in with their great skill at sumo wrestling. The mokko gata style tsuba also depicts the beautiful cherry blossoms usually surrounding the rivers.

A unique feature is the integrated Bo-Hi on the blade. The purpose of the Bo-Hi is to help reduce the weight of the katana, which enables the user to wield the katana better and puts less stress on the hands.

All Musha swords can be fully disassembled. The Tsuba, Fuchi, and Kashira all can be swapped out for a different sets.

FAQ
Is the blade actual Damascus steel or just styled as such?

It is styled as a Damascus pattern blade. The material used is actually 1045 high carbon steel.

Why are they made in China?

These types pf swords are Japanese Katana. The Japanese government has very strict laws regulating swords that are made in Japan. This creates an issue for collectors as they are hard to come by and are extremely expensive. Our swords offer an alternative for the collector at a more than reasonable price.

Are they suitable for Iaido practice?

They can be as they are hand forged to full tang. But please keep in mind that these katana are razor sharp out of the box. We do not recommend using it for Iaido and improper use can result in serious injury or death.

Can these be sharpened like a regular katana?

They come out of the box sharp, but you can sharpen them once they are dull.
